The University of Mobile’s 8Eighty Records is releasing a musical offering from the worship band Exit 13. Named after the Saraland/Citronelle exit on Interstate 65, this collective of students has established their reputation by leading worship services for youth events, churches, camps and civic events. Band members E. Cooper Bascom (vocals/guitar), Kayla Litton (vocals/cello), Austin Taylor (guitar), Dylan Miller (bass), Christian Harris (keys) and Christian Springer (drums) entered the decadent confines of the University of Mobile’s Fisher-Brewer Studio and laid down tracks for their latest release “From the Dust.” 8Eighty Records General Manager/Director of A&R Jeff Quimby elaborated on the versatility of “From the Dust” in a recent press release.
“This album creates a unique listening experience as the band collectively created new, exciting arrangements from traditional hymns, contemporary worship songs and Exit 13 originals,” said Quimby.
Quimby went on to explain that the album is “a mix of soulful blues, alternative rock, singer-songwriter and folk.” Fans of Gungor, All Sons & Daughters, Civil Wars, Johnnyswim and Phil Wickham should enjoy the inspirational tracks found on this album.
“Their hope is that the music will capture interest as the message of Jesus Christ seeps through,” explained Quimby. “Their talent and love for Christ is so evident in their music, and this music is something you will not want to pass up.”
“From the Dust” is available now through the 8Eighty Records website.
Renaissance Hotels continue to make Mobile’s Battle House one of the nation’s premiere hotels. They also have a hand in being a patron to music. Renaissance Hotels’ “Signature Global Music Experience” is in its sixth year, and Billboard has become their partner in this endeavor. Billboard joins AXS TV and AXS.com in this program. This program is touted by the company as being a “longtime legacy of supporting emerging artists” through a program that provides “culture-seeking travelers with multi-media access to new music and unexpected hotel experiences.”
The program provides Renaissance guests and the public to access the sounds of notable music acts such as Capital Cities, Tove Lo, La Roux, The Lone Bellow, AWOLNATION, A-Trak and St. Lucia. In the past, Renaissance has introduced its guests to Bruno Mars, Robin Thicke, Janelle Monae, Gavin DeGraw and Solange Knowles. Their partnership with Billboard will bring another year of “The Navigator Live.” This television show allows viewers to tour various locales alongside bands on tour. The program will also allow Marriott Rewards members and consumers a chance to attend “The Navigator Live” events and festivals.
