Two days after law enforcement officers located the body of Melea Ponder White near Langford Road in Fairhope, the Fairhope Police Department made an arrest in connection with the death of the 31-year-old woman.
On Saturday, Dec. 13, investigators with the FPD obtained a warrant for the arrest of Kenneth Morgan Styron, 37, of Fairhope, charging him with White’s murder. Styron has since been booked into the Fairhope Municipal Jail pending transfer to the Baldwin County Correction Center in Bay Minette.
Examination revealed White had died of a single gunshot wound.
During the investigation into White’s death, investigators located sufficient evidence to establish probable cause for Styron’s arrest, but those details have yet to be disclosed.
According to the police, the facts of the investigation show Styron killed white at his home near Kenneth King Lane in Fairhope, which is within approximately one mile of the location where her body was recovered.
White and Mr. Styron had previously been in a dating relationship, and White was reported missing by members of family on Dec. 3. Officers then discovered White’s body in an abandoned car on Dec. 11.
