Wednesday local law enforcement arrested one in connection with a murder in Mobile and today are actively searching for another suspected of murder in Prichard. Both incidents were reported within the last two days.

Wednesday, Prichard police named Rodney Martin, 38, as a suspect in the Dec. 2 shooting at an Energize gas station on St. Stephens road near Interstate 65. Officers responded to shots fired around 1 p.m. and found Demetrius Allen dead upon arrival.

Police released surveillance footage from the station after the incident, which showed a white Chrysler 300 at the scene believed to be driven by Martin. According to the Mobile County Sheriff’s Deparment, Martin has no arrest record in the area. Authorities have yet to locate Martin.

Meanwhile in Mobile, MPD officers arrested Myles Xavier Smith, 23, on Wednesday. Smith is charged with the murder of a 55-year-old female who was found dead in the early morning in the parking lot of an apartment complex for the hearing impaired at the 1700 block of Shelton Beach Road Extension.

The victim was transported to USA Medical Center where she died as a result of her wounds, but her name has yet to be released. Despite the arrest, detectives are continuing the investigation.
