Over the years, Mobilians have seen popular music venues come and go. When a venue withstands the financial pitfalls of time, its patrons and owners definitely have a reason to celebrate. For 16 years, The Blues Tavern has brought the Azalea City free music seven nights a week. Serving as “Mobile’s Only Blues Room,” The Blues Tavern has featured notable artists such as Tas Cru & the Tortured Souls, Biscuit Miller & the Mix, James “Super Chikan” Johnson and many others.
This venue has also catered to the area’s local blues artists, and a conglomerate of local musical acts will be providing the music for this celebration.
Seasoned local musicians Art Hedgepeth and Britt Meachem are scheduled to perform as a duo. The Fortunate Few will also be laying down a set of crowd favorites. Sixty-One 49 will be stopping by to lay down their blues jams. Flora-Bama veteran Johnny Barbato will give a musical testimony that includes both originals and covers, backed by the Lucky Doggs. Guitar maestro Ric McNaughton and his band will complete the lineup for this celebration.
