Traffic on I-65 South between Springhill Avenue and Dauphin Street will be backed up as crews work to remove a 51,000-pound tank that remains in the roadway after the truck that was hauling it broke down earlier today.
According the Mobile Police Department, a large crane is en route from Birmingham to reload the tank to another flatbed trailer.
Police are saying the right lane of the interstate will be closed during the tank’s removal, and the I-65 West Service Road between Dauphin Street and Old Shell Road will also be closed between three to five hours.
Authorities expect the crane to arrive in Mobile approximately 5 p.m.
