The Azalea City had their first taste of The Deslondes at the SouthSounds Music Fest. However, they performed under the name Sam Doores & the Tumbleweeds. After discovering a band called The Tumbleweeds already existed, The Deslondes were born. Their name may have changed, but their sound maintains the raw sonic vibe that made them an instant local favorite.
This group successfully captures an old school and shapes it with modern influences both aurally and aesthetically. Listening to this group conjures the twang and charm of legends such as Woody Guthrie and Hank Williams, Sr., who also filled their songs with homespun lyrics and instrumentation. When The Deslondes descend upon the OGD, they will regale their audience with cuts from their album “Holy Cross Blues.”
