The undefeated Vigor Wolves moved a step closer to the top spot in the Alabama Sports Writers Association Class 4A football poll this week, advancing one sport to the No. 2 position. The Wolves are the highest-ranked team among schools in the Lagniappe coverage area this week.

In Class 7A, Fairhope is now ranked No. 6 following its win last week over Baker. Theodore holds the No. 7 spot, while Daphne and Baker received votes but are not ranked. In Class 6A, Spanish Fort is ranked No. 5 and Saraland is ranked No. 7. McGill-Toolen, this week’s Lagniappe Team of the Week, received votes.

In Class 6A, UMS-Wright is the No. 7 team in the state, with St. Paul’s receiving votes. Vigor is the only local team ranked in Class 4A and Bayside at No. 10 is the only local team ranked in the Class 3A poll.

The No. 1-ranked teams in the state include Thompson (7A), Clay-Chalkville (6A), Pike Road (5A), Madison Academy (4A), Montgomery Catholic (3A), Clarke County (2A), Brantley (1A) and Autauga Academy (AISA).
