On the Creole Coast, summer slips in with May. Along with it, the watercolors flow into Fairhope on Mobile Bay’s tranquil Eastern Shore.
The American Watercolor Society’s annual traveling show will manifest in the Eastern Shore Arts Center in time for the warmest receptions of the year.
Begun in 1866 to promote watercolor work, this is the 147th rendition of their traveling show. The juried exhibition features artists from around the world and their website lists 138 exhibitors for the collection.
Other exhibits in the Art Center will be Patterns and Textures of New Orleans by Martha Pearson, paintings by Ted Burns and By The Sea from Claudia Hodgens.
An opening reception takes place during the May 2 First Friday Artwalk, 6 to 8 p.m. Music will be provided by Dr. Jazz and refreshments are included.
Gallery hours are Tuesday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
