The Jewel on Joachim is hosting a big evening of alt. country. Josh Ritter will open with tunes from his latest album “Sermon on the Rocks.” Ritter produced these tracks alongside local Grammy winner Trina Shoemaker, who took home the award for her engineering work on Sheryl Crow’s “The Globe Sessions.”
Jason Isbell has become a hero in the modern alt. country scene, as well as a role model for many up-and-coming singer-songwriters. His most recent effort, “Something More Than Free,” has become one of his biggest albums to date. This release topped the charts and earned Isbell two Grammy Awards. At his last appearance in the area, fans heard tracks from his latest album as well as tunes by Merle Haggard and Isbell’s former band, Drive-By Truckers, so this Saenger gig may offer similar variety.
