The University of South Alabama 2014 student ensemble slate begins at the end of the season’s first month with a combined concert of new and classic wind band works. Under the baton of Dr. Michael Phillips, the Symphony Band will open with James Stephenson’s “American Fanfare” followed by Paul Richards’ “Medium Funk Prelude,” Ralph V. Williams’ “Rhosymedre” and Elliot Del Borgo’s “Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night.”
After an intermission, the USA Wind Ensemble takes the stage with Director Dr. William Peterson. They’ll perform Frank Ticheli’s “Nitro,” Vaughan Williams’ “Toccata Marziale,” Jonathan Newman’s “Moon By Night” and Kalinnikov’s Symphony No. 1, transcribed for wind band.
Admission is $8, $5 for USA faculty, staff, students, senior citizens and youth under 18. Tickets are available at the door only.
