The soft sound of woodwinds can conjure images of Asian influence and the USA Woodwind Ensemble highlights that link with their fall concert under the direction of Dr. Rebecca Mindock. Two original clarinet ensemble works written by contemporary Japanese composers — “Spirit Road II” by Eiji Suzuki and “A Picture Book Without a Picture” by Masanori Taruya — are to be featured.
In addition, the group will also perform George Gershwin’s Prelude No. 2, Erich Whitacre’s “Sleep” and both Vaughan Williams’ “Phantasy Quintet” and his “Six Studies in English Folk Song.” In keeping with a fun and festive tradition, there will also be some Klezmer music in the program.
Tickets are available at the door only. Admission is $8, $5 for USA faculty and staff, USA students, senior citizens and youth under 18 (cash or check only).
