The Nappie Awards are currently in session, and the Bluegill Restaurant is no stranger to this annual event. The public tends to push this longtime restaurant/music venue to the top of the “Best Outdoor Music Venue” category. Those who are both familiar with and new to Bluegill’s offering of music in some of the area’s most scenic surroundings are instantly taken by the organic atmosphere. Lee Yankie’s upcoming performance should be the perfect opportunity to reacquaint yourself with or discover the sonic magic of the Bluegill.
The area has witnessed two incarnations of Yankie’s sound. When he is performing with his group The Hellz Yeah, Yankie delivers endless volleys of epic, Southern-fried jams that adhere to no boundaries. Yankie’s solo performances are just as appealing. This singer-songwriter pulls from a catalog of covers and originals to attract crowds and keep them in their seats.
Whether performing with a band or solo, Yankie’s talents on the fretboard cannot be denied. His passion for the guitar can be seen in his intricate runs and smooth slides across the strings. With summer arriving on the Gulf Coast, Yankie’s performance will be accentuated by the Bluegill’s natural setting.
